Daddy is now officially as bad as me when it comes to buying stuff for Rylan. I get so excited in the toy aisle because I remember how much I loved a certain toy when I was little. I think...oh, Rylan's gotta have this. HaHa! Daddy came home with a large art easel and this cute little pink 4-wheeler. Rylan loves it...of course. She's been Daddy's Girl--BIG TIME--recently. If he is outside, she looks out the window and calls for him, DAD-DEEEE. It gets him everytime. She loves being outside and "helping" him.

Rylan also has this thing with shoes. She hated shoes when she was a baby. I couldn't even get her to wear them for her X-mas pictures. Now, she would wear shoes to bed, if we would let her. As soon as she sees shoes, she starts trying to put them on and says-SHOOOES.
She tries to wear my flip-flops, but gets so upset when they fall off when she walks. She has gotten really good at putting on her own shoes. She can even get them on the right feet. Here's a funny picture of her wearing Duane's shoes.

New Playhouse

We decided to get Rylan a playhouse since she loves being outside. She just loves it. We have such a big yard now and there's nothing back there. We are planning on getting a big swing set for Christmas. One day, we will have a pool put in.

Summer Fishing Trip

For my birthday this year, Grammy got us the lake house in the French Quarter where she works. It's a gorgeous home right on the lake. Pops bought a new boat, so it was the first time we got to check it out. We took Rylan out for her first boat ride and she loved it. The next morning, we went out fishing. Duane and I had boat her a baby princess pole. Duane helped her catch fish and she thought it was the best. Her favorite thing to do was to catch the minnows and throw them back in the water. Pops didn't like that very much at all. HAHA!
We also took her to the pool. They had a baby section so she could stand, but she wanted to hold on to Grammy most of the time. We had a great time.

These last two weeks, Rylan has been starting to say more words. She understands everything that we say to her, but she never said much back, except for random babble. For the longest time, the only words she said was DaDa, Momma, Pops and Stop. She can now say Puppy, Kitty, Apple (sounds more like App-poo), Up, Hop, Cheese (for when she smiles at the camera) and Sit. Yes, it's Sit for sure. Duane looked at me crazy the first time she said it, but she tells her babies to sit in the stroller. She also says Baby and MeMe, which we figured out, is her. She says MeMe Baby, which I think means she's the baby. She just started saying Mine after this weekend. Probably because she was letting Cade have it when he would take her baby or stroller. She also can make the sounds for Puppy, Kitty, Sheep, Cow and Horse. Books and her babies are her favorite things. She will carry as many babies as possible, then lay them all down for a nap. She spends hours pushing them around in a stroller and wrapping them up in a blanket. She's so sweet because she gives them a kiss and pats them on the back. She waves to just about anyone and blows them kisses.

She started her new class at Primrose this week. Even though, she's only 16 months, they decided to move her up to the 18-25 month old class. She didn't do well at all in the 12 month class. I think the kids were too young. Most of them were crying the whole time, could barely walk and had no interest in playing with Rylan. She cried so much every time I left her. I just hated it. She has been doing great in the new classroom. She didn't even cry about being dropped off. The kids all sit at the table in the morning waiting for flash cards or a story. There isn't any crying and it's much more calm. This morning, she actually walked in holding my hand. I didn't have to carry her in and force her to stay. She was even waving to the ladies at the front desk. I think she will enjoy this class more and learn more.

Rylan's First Trip to the Frio River

We spent 4 days at Frio River with Grammy, Pops, Aunt Robin and Cade. Rylan had a great time.

Mommies, Babies and Tons of Fun

Robin and Cade came to visit us. We took the kids to eat and then on our beer run. They had a great time playing outside together. We wore them out really good so we could have some alone mommy time. Robin and Cade spent the night so that they could play some more in the morning.

Rylan's First Circus

New House

Our house sold! We found an inventory home that we bought. Hopefully, both close on June 30. We have a lot of work to do and we have been very busy. We will be moving to Northcrest Village (2920/Kuykendahl). After many months of looking for a house, we found this one and it was perfect. It has a 3 car garaqge which was the most important to Duane. I got the media room and gameroom that I wanted plus a HUGE backyard for Rylan. Here are some pictures.

1st Haircut

Rylan is getting one of her large back teeth. She was crying all through her dinner. I gave her a fruit pop and she felt so much better.

Duane & I were busy cleaning up the house all day Sunday to get ready to take pictures to get it listed on the MLS. I decided to take down Rylan's exersaucer, since she won't sit in in anymore. As soon as we went to put it up, it became her new favorite toy. It was totally flat and she was trying to get inside of it.

Rylan though it was so funny when she found her belly button.

Rylan's First Visit to Chuck E Cheese

Rylan and her best friend, Taylor went to Chuck E Cheese for the first time on Saturday. First the girls had pizza. This is the first time that Rylan has had pizza and she liked it. Taylor liked Rylan's yogurt melts the most and Rylan wanted to eat Taylor's goldfish. Both the girls were totally into checking out all of the lights, sounds and other kids.

We put the girls on all of the rides. Of course, I was like the Poparazzi....snapping pics the whole time.

Rylan liked collecting all of the tickets. Daddy figured out a game...and won us a whole bunch. The girls both got some fun little prizes.

Pops has retired...IT'S ABOUT TIME!

Rylan's Pops has been battling Stage III Colon Cancer. He had surgery in Jan. 08 and is doing 6 months of Chemotherapy. He has been having a really tough time tolerating the Chemo. He is usually sick for at least 6 days after, which barely gives him enough time to recover before he gets "CHEMO'D" (as he calls it) again. I go with him to his dr appts and chemo, while Rylan stays with Grammy. We finally had some good news. Pops has been waiting for the City of Houston Fire Dept board to review his case. They approved for him to take disability pension. HE IS OFFICIALLY RETIRED. He has been saying he was going to retire, "in 3 more years" for the last 10 years. He has not been able to go back to work since he had surgery, so it's for the best. He needs to focus on getting healthy. We also had a dr appt with the Urologist to discuss the tumor in his Kidney. It is a small mass about 1.6cm. They have decided to just watch it for now, since he can't tolerate another sugery during Chemo. He will have another CAT scan soon to see how the Chemo is working and they will check on the kidney tumor again.
Congrats to Pops for all his years of hard work!

Now Pops can go to the Frio whenever he wants.

Grammy came to pick up Rylan so she could spend the night. Rylan gets so excited when I tell her she is going to go to Grammy & Pops house. She will say, "Pop, Pop, Pop!". When she sees Grammy, she goes crazy. She laughs about everything she does. Grammy and Pops always teach her new things everytime she visits. Pops will sing, "Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh". Then Rylan adds in the Da Da Da part. She also likes it when Pops puts on the Polka Show on TV. She is already practicing her dancing skills.

Rylan's First Easter

Rylan opened her Easter Basket at home when she first woke up. She was so excited. She fell twice because she was trying to run to her basket. It was sad. Once she got to it, she laughed every time she opened and egg with a "little people" friend inside.

We went to church with Grammy, Pops & Uncle Jimmy. Rylan was really good in church. She danced to the music. Most of the time she walked up and down the pew between all of us. When everyone gets together, she can't decide who she wants to be with the most....so she has to go back and forth. I brought her little toy purse along and she had to show the people behind us how she puts on her lipstick. After church, we went over to Grammy & Pops' house. The Easter Bunny also made a stop over there and left a basket for all of us. Uncle Jimmy was sad that the Easter Bunny didn't give him any laundry detergent in his basket.

Grammy had stuffed bunnies everywhere in the house. Rylan would get so happy when she found one.

Duane put out eggs for Rylan to go find. She had a great time. When she would find the egg, Duane would tell her to put it in the basket. She would throw it real hard into the basket. Hilarious!

I remember doing eggs every year with my Grandma, GaGa. She would fix the dye in muffin cups. So I did the same thing. It made it perfect for her to be able to dip the egg.
Notice the other hand doing the egg...well, that's Duane. He is holding his egg with the special little tongs that come with the kit. It's very important that he did not get his hands dyed. HAHA!

Here are the eggs she did. She colored them all herself. I put on the stickers. I thought she did a great job for a 1 year old.....of course, they were all broken. Oh well, we never eat them anyway.

I had to take a picture of this figurine. Yes, it is two drunk Armadillos. If you take a close look, you will notice the man armadillo has a Lone Star beer. If I am lucky enough, maybe one day I will inherit this FINE piece of art. This was a price posession to my parents when we were growing up. It had a special place on the bar for everyone to view it in all of its glory. When we were kids, Jimmy and I were playing and broke it. We were so SCARED we would be in so much trouble for destroying this valuable piece of work. I told Jimmy to go get the water colors and elmers glue. I used all the skills I had to piece it back together. We didn't tell our parents until we were grown up what we had done. We found this charished beauty at Easter and it is still looking as FINE as ever....that Elmers glue did a great job.

Good Friday at the Zoo

We took Rylan to the zoo on Good Friday. She loved the little tiny animals the best and looking at all the other kids. She wanted to walk around like a big girl and look at everything. She had to break in her new baby Nike shoes.

Rylan's Easter Bunny Visit

She had to play a little before she put on her pretty dress. "Aunt" Kellie, she loves her princess car.
Here is the little angel. I thought this picture was so funny because she was dropping her bunny just as I snapped the picture.

We practiced the night before wearing a headband. I would put it on her and clap when she kept it on. If she took it off, I would pretend to cry. Now, she likes to wear her headband.

All these big smiles and I'm thinking we are set for a great Easter Bunny picture. WRONG! She fell asleep in the car on the way. That always happens. She woke up once we got to the mall and was not herself. She did wave to the bunny while we were in line, but when she got on his lap, she just sat there. At least she didn't cry. WHAT IS A GRANDPARENT?

(Taken from papers written by a class of 8-year-olds)

Grandparents are a lady and a man who
have no little children of their own. They like other people's.

A grandfather is a man, & a grandmother is a lady!
Grandparents don't have to do anything except be there when we come
to see them. They are so old they shouldn't play hard or run. It is
good if they drive us to the shops and give us money.

When they take us for walks, they slow down past things

like pretty leaves and caterpillars.

They show us and talk to us about the colors of the flowers and also
why we shouldn't step on 'cracks.'

They don't say, 'Hurry up.'

Usually grandmothers are fat but not too fat to tie your shoes.

They wear glasses and funny underwear.

They can take their teeth and gums out.

Grandparents don't have to be smart.
They have to answer questions like 'Why isn't God married?' and 'How
come dogs chase cats?'

When they read to us, they don't skip. They don't mind if

we ask for the same story over again.

Everybody should try to have a grandmother, especially if you don't
have television because they are the only grownups who like to spend
time with us.

They know we should have snack time before bed time, and they say
prayers with us and kiss us even when we've acted bad.

Rylan loves her Grandparents and is really lucky to have two sets. We need some special prayers. Duane's Dad (PawPaw J.T.) is having surgery today for Bladder Cancer. My dad (Pops) has recently had surgery to remove Colon Cancer and he will be starting Chemo soon. Rylan loves her Grandpa's very much and we need them to be around for a LONG time.

Shopping Day

The maid came today, so we all decided to get out of the house so she could do "her thing". Duane never goes shopping with us so I think we wore him out. I am not sure if he can go anymore because some how we ended up spending $300 at Walmart and we still don't have anything to eat. Duane, however, has 3 boxes of apple oatmeal and every kind of Kiddie cereal that they sell. When we got home Rylan wanted to help me unload the groceries. It kept her entertained for a good 2 hours.

9 month check-up

Rylan had her 9 month check-up. She is 18lbs and 27 inches. She is still wearing 6-9 month clothes. I think she is taking after me in height. She is drinking three 7oz bottles per day plus three meals. Her favorite thing is Gerber Cheese Snacks. They look like baby cheetos. She knows the can and tries to get it. When she eats, she says "mmmm" after almost every bite. Baby food must be very delicious to her. She's been doing that since she was 4 months. It's hysterical. She has 8 teeth, so she's getting good at chewing food.

I was very proud of her because she barely cried when she got her shot. The first two sets of shots were terrible. She would just scream. It would take her two days to get over it.

She has learned so much in just the last two weeks. She is crawling everywhere and pulling up. She is very active. I am not sure if I have ever seen a baby move so much and so fast. I am very tired! Miss Kitty's water bowl is way better than any toy she owns. I had to find a new place for that. Poor Kitty! Rylan chases her everywhere. She loves the cats so much. She smiles and laughs at them. She gets so excited when she gets to pet them.

She is a BIG talker. MMMM....wonder where she gets that from??? She says "DaDa" all the time and I think she is associating it with Duane because she says it to him. I thought I heard "MaMa" a few times, but not sure. Maybe, I just imagined it. I think she calls me "NaNa", when she wants me to hold her. When she says "Poo", it's usually poo. She has this little duck that she likes to play with while she is eating. I am pretty sure that she says duck. It sounds like it to me. There is also a whole lot of "ish" and "this". Sometimes she gets very serious like she's telling a real good story. When the dr was asking us if she responds with noises that sound sort of like words, I swear Rylan said "Yes". The dr said that she said it, so I must not be losing it from lack of sleep.

She is so loving and sweet. She needs lots of hugs. She will make this kissy noise and then open her mouth real BIG for a kiss. She wants to do it all the time. She wants to lay with me or have me hold her. She has to get as close as possible and hold on tight. If I try to lay her down FORGET IT, she wakes up and wants to get close to me again. I guess I should just enjoy it because she will be a teenager and HATE me before too long.

She just amazes me when she plays with her toys. She figures them out so quickly. She can put the ball into the right slots. She also learned how to put all the shapes into the right holes. I think she might be a genius. HAHA! Tonight, she was throwing the ball with Daddy. She was so funny. She would throw it underhanded. Girly, just like her Mommy. Although, I am not sure if I ever threw a ball. Well maybe once, but it went the wrong way and hit some girl in the head while she was swimming. She also likes to pick out her books from the book shelf and look at them. Another sign she's a genius. :o) Grammy taught her how to waive and turn off the light switch a few months back. She gets mad if you don't let her turn it off when you leave the room. She also always claps when you say "Patty-Cake" and she also can do the "roll it up" part. It's really hysterical. I need to get it on video.

It all may be very tiring now, but it's so worth it to have a happy baby that loves us so much.

Fun time at the Park

I picked Rylan up from the neighbors after a day of playing with her friends. I decided to take her down to our neighborhood park to see how she would like the swing. She loved her baby swing but she got too big and we had to put it away. I am pretty sure Fisher Price was wrong when they state the weight limit is 25lbs. As you can see from the pictures, she loved it right away. Now, we put her in her pink car and take her to the park. She thinks she is a big girl driving her car. She holds on to the steering wheel and waves at everyone. Maybe she is getting ready to become Miss America. She can sit in a convertible and do "the wave". HAHA!!!

For some crazy reason, my video came out sideways. I tried to rotate it, but it wasn't happening. I guess I was holding the camera wrong. Who knows! I am a very tired mom.

Cell Phone

Rylan is already addicted to the phone. My cell phone is way better than any toy she has. When Duane is out of town for business, we give her the phone so she can talk to him. My neighbor, Robin, keeps Rylan a couple days a week. She said Rylan found a toy phone and put it up to her ear and started saying "DaDa". Poor baby was trying to call him on the toy phone.

Rylan can crawl

For a while now, Rylan has been scooting backwards, but could not get her legs up to go forward. On Christmas night, she figured out how to go into a sitting position from being on her stomach. Sunday, she started to crawl forward and now there is no stopping her. The Kitty is in big trouble.

New Years Eve

Duane wanted Rylan to see the fireworks for New Year's Eve, so Grammy came over to our house to help out with Rylan. She got RSV the day after Christmas. She seemed to be doing better and really loved the fireworks. I thought she would be scared, because she freaks out over the vacuum cleaner. She absolutely loved it. Duane got some small "baby" fireworks, but she didn't care about those. She wanted to see the big, loud ones that go in the sky. When Duane tried to take a break, she would yell "DaDa" and then look up in the sky and make a noise that sounded like "zoooom". Later that night, when she went inside with Grammy she kept doing that over and over. I guess she was trying to tell us how much she loved it.

The Pavlock's Crazy Christmas

Daddy's Family Christmas Party

This Saturday, Duane's family had their Christmas Party. Rylan had a great time playing with her cousins and Grandparents. Here are some pictures.

Rylan figured out how to remove her bow for the first time at the party. She gave her bow to Lane and decided that she wanted to wear his hat instead.

Rylan was in love with her cousin, McKayla's hair. She kept pulling on it the whole time. Note: her bow is in her hand. My little baby will not wear shoes and now is protesting the bow. OH NO!

Grammy Time

This week, Rylan and I spent Wednesday-Friday over at Grammy's house. I am working on a 2009 business plan for work, so Grammy was in charge. Here's Rylan playing with the Minnie Mouse that Grammy got her. Here PJ's say: What Santa doesn't bring, Grandma will. SO TRUE~We are really going to need to get a bigger house after Christmas.

She can pull herself up on her knees. It won't be long and she will be standing. She doesn't stay still for long.

She thinks this Santa is funny. She loves the ball on Santa's hat. She pulled off the one on Grammy's shirt. HAHA!

Rylan's Rocking Giraffe

Rylan got a rocking giraffe toy from her best friend Taylor for Christmas. She's trying to get the hang of it. I have to watch her or she will slip off the side. As soon as she slips off, she wants to get right back on again.

Smacking Noise

Rylan started doing this smacking noise. If we do it, she will start doing it. It's really funny. I was carrying her home the neighbors where she goes to daycare and she was "smacking" all the way home. I got her to do it on video.

Rylan's Santa visit

Last Friday, we went to the mall with Grammy & Pops. We had a great day. First we went to JC Penney's to get some pictures taken of Rylan. I thought that since I had so much trouble taking pictures of her, that maybe the professionals could get some shots. WRONG! The entire time she was moving around. She would not keep her shoes on. As soon as I put them on, she rubbed her feet together and they were off. I didn't want to have her photo taken with just tights, so I had to make an executive decision. I decided that barefoot was better than just tights. I really hated it. She has this super cute outfit and no shoes. It looks like I am raising "Britney Spears". We did get a few good pictures that I will post as soon as they come in. After that we went to see Santa. We got super lucky and there was only 3 people in line. I had another great outfit for Rylan to wear with Santa. The dress says "Santa's little baby". I had matching little Santa booties for the dress. As you can see by the picture, they didn't make it. I waited until the last second to put them on....and in the next second they were off. There was this cute little baby in front of us. She had on little red tights and black shiny shoes. I was sad that Rylan would not wear her shoes. The shoes were the best part of the outfit. We ditched the tights and put on socks. So here is her picture. On a positive note, at least she is not crying.

Rylan got a real letter from Santa today. I am not sure which "elf" out there sent it to her, but it's really cute. Santa said that his elves are working hard putting together all her gifts. I told the Daddy Elf, he better get on it right away. HAHA!

Cold Baby

We have had a few really cold days here lately. Here is Rylan coming home from playing with her friends at Daycare.

Daddy hates the bear suit, but I thought it was hilarious. I found it for her when we were in Florida. My mom said it was way too hot & she would never wear it. It works perfectly to keep her warm when when I take her down the street to daycare.

Taylor is my friend Christina's daughter. Rylan and Taylor are 3 weeks apart. Rylan and Taylor are best friends....because their Mommy's say they are. HAHA! They spent the day together on Saturday. They played and gave each other Christmas presents. (Really, Rylan spent the day beating the crap out of Taylor...see video below) When Christina & I went shopping a while back, I found these shirts that say "Best Friends", so I had to get them. After we got home from The Aquarium on Saturday, I was trying to get some good pictures of Rylan in her "Santa Dress". It was nearly impossible. She will not stay still for a second and she got a terrible runny nose. All she wanted to do is chew on her shoe. She has so many cute shoes that match her outfits and she refuses to wear them. She kicks and rubs her feet together until she gets them off and then she sticks them in her mouth. She does the same thing with socks. We were in Target the other night and I had to backtrack twice to find her socks. It was way too cold for her to be barefoot. So here are my attempts at pictures.

I swear, I had to erase about 50 pictures of the shoe in her mouth. This one is nice, because the cat decided to walk by. HAHA! Can someone please tell me how to get a good picture once your baby starts moving around?

Black Friday

This year, we had Thanksgiving with my parents on Black Friday, so we missed our traditional shopping extravaganza. Rylan was still really sick. The ER Dr told us to rotate Motrin and Tylenol every 3 hrs. It still would not keep her temperature down. As soon as the temperature went back up, she was so miserable. I remember last Thanksgiving when I was pregnant. We were trying to figure out how old Rylan would be at her first Thanksgiving and if she would be able to eat real food. She had baby food Turkey and Sweet Potato's. She loved her Turkey place mat.

My mom made her special mashed potatos, but she didn't like it. Look at her face.

I got a few pictures with the family. Here's the best one.....Kellie might kill me. Poor Kellie. She was trying to do everything to make Rylan smile for some pictures so we could have happy memories of her first Thanksgiving.

We had a terrible night. Rylan woke up screaming around 11:00pm. She has never cried like this or for that long before. We tried everything. She cried so much she made her self throw up. Duane finally got her to go to sleep by showing her one of her favorite toys that lights up and plays songs. We decided to take her back to the Dr. on Saturday. They did some blood work and said that it was a virus and there was nothing that we could do. She slept most of the day on Saturday and Sunday. It doesn't help matters that she is getting another tooth.

Thanksgiving Day

We spent Thanksgiving day with Duane's family. Rylan was not her usual happy self. We took her temperature and she had 102. We took her to the ER. They did an RSV test and also checked her for a UTI. It was so terrible. They were able to get her fever down and said it was a virus. Here are some pictures of her on Thanksgiving. We did not get any with the family because she felt so bad.

The other day, I put Rylan in her first pair of jeans. They are so cute. Can someone tell me why it's so cute for a baby belly to hang over the top of their pants, but it's SO NOT CUTE when an adult has a "muffin top"? Here are some good pictures. I told you Rylan had blue eyes and not red.

Rylan learns how to clap

Last night, Rylan did not want to go to sleep after he 8pm bottle. She was just not having it. After every attempt, I finally gave up and put her in the swing so she could relax while I washed bottles. I looked up and she was clapping. I guess her swing was very exciting and she needed to clap. Grammy and I have been practicing clapping with her, but she would never do it. When I dropped her off at Daycare this morning they said yesterday they were playing and she clapped. I guess Daycare is good for her because she is learning so much being with other kids. New Cameras

I finally got a new camera and video camera. I am so disappointed that I did not get it sooner. I had a ton of pictures printed that were from my old camera. They look so bad compared to what my new camera can do. ALL of my pictures from my old camera have red eye, even though it had a red eye detection. Now, I will be posting pictures from my new camera and you will see great, beautiful pictures. Finally, everyone can see Rylan's big blue eyes.....not red!

Halloween Costume

We had some pictures taken of Rylan in her Halloween costume. She was a total grump. It was really hot in the studio, so she wasn't lovin' the tights and fleece. Look at her poor face. She was so mad at us for making her wear this. When we tried it on at home and she saw herself in the mirror, she loved it. She couldn't see herself, so she just knew it was miserable.

This last one is pretty good. She is kind of smiling.
